Lendhotel Graz — the Lendplatz location, routes and what lies around it

The Lendhotel stands west of the Mur, in the quarter around the Lendplatz. This is the other side of the river: between the house and the old town lie the water and a bridge. Lend was a working and artisan district for a long time and is today the area where galleries, coffee roasters and small bars have settled in among workshops and international grocers. Anyone expecting a closed historic backdrop is in the wrong place — Lend is mixed, in its buildings as much as socially.

In practice that means: what you need in the evening is in the radius. The Lendplatz with its market is just around the corner, along with several supermarkets right on the street, a good dozen cafés and as many restaurants and bars in the immediate vicinity — regional cooking alongside Italian, Croatian and African. What is missing is the tram: the nearest stops are at the Keplerbrücke and at the Roseggerhaus, which is a noticeable detour. The way into the old town crosses the Mur, a clear walk but not a long one. The main station lies a good stretch to the west.

This suits travellers who want to set out on foot in the evening without taking transport first, and who find a quarter in transition more interesting than a picture-postcard backdrop. It expressly does not suit guests who depend on a stop outside the door, anyone with an early train and heavy luggage, or travellers who need quiet: the house stands on a road that carries traffic, and the density of bars around it brings an evening crowd with it. The guide price is 80 to 130 euros a night.
