Almost every hotel guide measures against a single point, the historic centre. For Graz that mostly holds — but not for everyone. Arrive by train and you stand at the Hauptbahnhof first; head for the trade fair and you travel the other way. The three points lie far enough apart to reverse the order of the hotels.

Each hotel is assigned to the point it stands closest to, using the same walking times as everywhere else in this guide. To the Hauptplatz the range runs from 2 to 46 minutes on foot. Within 15 minutes there are 13 of the 25 hotels. A hotel far out is not worse placed, then, but differently placed: the question is where you plan your days from.

Kunsthaus, Lendplatz, the station quarter. The largest district in the selection and the only one where naming the district is not enough to book on — here the street decides.
The World Heritage old town between the Schlossberg and the Mur. Shortest distances, highest prices, densest culture. For a first visit the easiest choice.
University quarter in the north, park district in the south. If you want a tram rather than a night out, the quietest hotels in the selection are here.
The three quarters in this guide are editorial groupings, not official city districts: they collect what feels alike on foot. Graz divides its area differently — the 25 hotels are officially spread across six districts.
The pattern breaks for two hotels: Motel One Graz is in the Innere Stadt district, Hotel Gollner in St. Leonhard.
We have not refiled them. The groupings are part of the addresses of these pages; changing one costs redirects and would strip a section of its best-known hotel. Instead every hotel page carries its official district as a line of its own, with the source beside it — whoever needs the figure finds the one that officially applies.
