The Motel One stands on the Jakominiplatz, the central interchange of the Graz transport network. The tram lines and a large share of the bus routes meet here; the square is accordingly a traffic surface rather than a place to linger. To the north the old town begins immediately, to the south the more densely built residential streets of Jakomini.

In practice this is the strongest connection you can get in Graz. Anyone who has to be in different places every day — the trade fair grounds, the university, the station, the surrounding region — saves a change on every trip. At the same time the old town is walkable: Hauptplatz and Herrengasse lie to the north, the Joanneumsviertel with the Neue Galerie and the natural history museum right alongside. The choice of places to eat in the radius is very large and broadly spread, from Vietnamese to regional inns to Italian, plus many cafés and bars. Supermarkets, a chemist and an organic grocer are in the radius, as are several smaller parks in the neighbourhood.

This suits travellers with a lot of ground to cover, short stays, arrivals by train or coach, and anyone who does not want to walk far in the evening. It expressly does not suit guests looking for quiet: a transport hub works from early morning until late at night, and the house stands directly on a main road. Nor does it suit travellers who expect old-town atmosphere outside the window — that starts a little further on. The guide price is 70 to 100 euros a night.
