Hotel Villa Rückert Graz — the location in eastern Geidorf

quiet€ 65–110 / night29 min to Hauptplatz

Rückertgasse 4, 8010 Graz

The Hotel Villa Rückert stands in the Rückertgasse in eastern Geidorf, where the closed city fabric gives way to the slopes towards the Ries. This is a residential area of villas and gardens with little through traffic; the city’s major axes run elsewhere. The old town is a long way off from here; it is not part of this address’s surroundings.

By this guide’s quiet estimate, this is one of the quietest addresses in the selection — the nearest through road keeps its distance, and there is no railway line in this corner at all. A tram track, however, runs closer than the words “villa quarter” suggest.

The guest reports go further here than the estimate does: they describe the house, with one voice, as the quietest they have stayed in. Those are two different ways of measuring — one calculates from the location, the other reads what people experienced — and both stand on this page. That they point the same way is not the rule among the houses in this guide.

Day to day the tram partly compensates for the edge-of-town position: the Lenaugasse and Tegetthoffplatz stops are in the near radius, which makes the centre a straightforward ride without changing. On green space this address is unusually well served — the university’s botanical garden, the Schanzelgarten, the Merangarten, the Tegetthoffplatz and several smaller grounds are all within walking distance. The university itself is reachable on foot, and part of the food and drink in the radius visibly lives off it: a few student places, some cafés, plus two supermarkets and an organic shop. That is all there is. Anyone heading out in the evening without a plan has a modest choice, and the way back after a late performance is not a minor matter.

For travellers by car there is a point in the parking line here that no other house in this guide offers: the space costs nothing. At an address where many will arrive by car anyway, that is the most tangible advantage of the edge-of-town position. For the railway the opposite holds — the main station sits at the other end of the city, and arriving from there means planning a ride rather than a walk.

This suits travellers who need quiet, longer stays, visits to the university, and anyone who would rather run in a park in the morning than through the city centre. It does not suit a short city break in which every ride costs time, travellers who expect restaurants and nightlife outside the door, or guests unwilling to take the tram for every trip into the centre. The guide price is 65 to 110 euros a night.

What guests report

Noise
Unanimously described as the quietest of them all: a cul-de-sac in the Geidorf villa quarter, a garden, rooms facing the greenery. Criticism concerns the condition of the rooms, not the noise.
Breakfast
A buffet, described in the reports as generous; the accounts vary — have it confirmed before booking.
Cleanliness
Very well kept for the most part; individual reports mention dust and floors.
Check-in
Check-in from 14:00, straightforward according to the reports — luggage often taken to the room earlier.

From guest reviews on booking and review sites, checked 09/2026.
